Inlays & Onlays (sometimes known as partial crowns) are made from a ceramic or composite material and are typically used
to rebuild teeth when the damage is too great for a filling yet not extensive enough to require a full crown. As well as restoring
the aesthetic appearance of the tooth they can also re-establish its function and strength.
The difference between the two relates to the area of the tooth that they are used to rebuild.
Inlays repair large cavities that lie within the cusps in the middle of the biting surface of the tooth.
Onlays are used for repairs that extend over the cusps to the
outer area of the biting surface.
